History

Although several of our constituent corporate entities are significantly older, our parent company Invesco Ltd., in its modern form was created by the 1997 combination of two asset management businesses: Invesco and AIM, both of which had been founded in the 1970s.  Envisioning a broad international market for asset management, our company's Chairman Emeritus Charles W. Brady and eight partners in Atlanta, Georgia had purchased the pension management department from their employer, a large regional U.S. bank, in 1978, naming the new business Invesco. Through the years, by careful merger and acquisition, Invesco assembled a well-focused and autonomous group of established money management firms - each concentrating on a distinct segment of the investment market - to become one of the world's leading institutional managers.
