We pay strict attention to portfolio design and have a preference for companies with demonstrated financial strength. This results in an effective risk-management approach. We have developed a global company database that contains up to 10 years of balance sheet and income statement history on a substantial number of companies worldwide. This data, after factoring in specific accounting-related adjustments, enables us to evaluate companies across the globe on an equal footing. In addition, we have orchestrated our research efforts along global sector lines rather than a traditional country or regional approach. We believe that sector trends have a more significant effect on stock prices over the long term than other macro-based factors.
